SERIES: The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

DATE COMPLETED: December 2015

FABRIC: Cream Boucle

NOTES: This movie became my obsession & it all started with a pair of sunglasses. Specifically the ones she wears during my favorite dancing scene. :) The next thing I knew I was at Joann Fabrics stocking up on 1960's retro patterns. I'll be honest, at first I wasn't blown away by the movie. But that's probably because I fell asleep halfway through.

I watched it again so I could see the sunglasses & that's when I fell in love with everything else she's wearing. I knew I wanted to make the white dress in the end of the movie because it was so chic! ... And it would give me a reason to purchase the sunglasses. :P I ordered a plush cream boucle & patterned out the dress twice. I changed the shape a bit so it would be more flattering to my figure. This dress is fully lined & closes in the back with a lapped zipper.

The coat was a bigger undertaking for me since I've never made a coat that size before! I wanted it to have all the bells & whistles, including welt pockets, bound buttonholes & a double-vented back. The fabric I used was a metallic striped Ralph Lauren evening wear jacquard. I really wanted to make her matching dress underneath but I purchased all the fabric they had left & it was just enough for the coat. If you look closely at the seams, all the stripes line up because that's just how I roll. :P
